Bedroom Artists set a theme for the exhibition held in Brick Lane in March 2017. It was to explore the tensions inherent in the ideas of carnal and concrete. My work, a multi-part monoprint entitled 'Stronghold', explored the contradictory nature of concrete; its strength and solidity belying its ultimate destruction and therefore fragility. My fascination with the Barbican Estate provided the perfect backdrop for this exploration, culminating in this large monoprint of one of the Barbican Towers, the towers seeming to be the ultimate embodiment of these ideas.
